Week 18 - Brazos, Texas

***From Brig's Mom... I would love it if everyone who reads this will take a selfie every time you go to the temple and email it to Brig. I know that he will love seeing you!****

Hello!!!
Hi everybody!!  A couple of highlights from this week:
1.  I found 103 names with ordinances to do in under 30 minutes!! (new personal record)
2.  I heard 'Shut Up and Dance' at Taco Bell. It made me think about Mom.
3.  Uncle P., Aunt S. and daughters are in the "Good to be alive" Music video on Mormon Channel.  hahaha we were in the clerks office doing family history when I glanced over and saw G.  lol, it was awesome!

I love getting emails with the wardie selfies.  You guys should take temple selfies every time you go to a temple!

Mom, the sign you made of Texas is the coolest thing I have ever seen!!!!
I got the Easter packages on Thursday and the letter on Saturday. lol  Thanks for the Easter stuff.  We made our nano block Easter Island heads and took a picture with a waffle for size reference.  We made Elder Grimaldos be the Tree of Life, hahaha we aren't missionaries or anything ;)  That tie is the most amazing tie I have ever seen in my life.  Funny story, you know my black tie with the silver paisley design?  Well, there is a member in the branch who has always told me that he loves that tie.  Yesterday in branch council he walked in and sat next to me and said, "That is a beautiful tie.  You have great ties."  He looked at it for a second and then said, "Can I have that tie?"  I said, "Nah, my Mommy sent it to me."  Plus it makes me think about Lilo and Stitch.

We have a couple of teaching appointments with less active members set for this week. Heavenly Father will never forget you.  Even when you forget Him.  We currently do not have any investigators.  This area is super hard and I am very discouraged at times, but I'm trying my darndest to keep my head up.  Read Philippians 3:13-14.  Leave the past behind you.  You have the divine potential to become as God is now.  Always press forward.

For General Conference we will go to the chapel because it will be broadcast there.

Thank you guys for taking care of me from so far away.
I love you guys so much!!

Week 17 - Brazos, Texas

Hey Y'all
What's good family?? How are all of you? Blake looks so fly in that suit. Dang. This week was super weird. We met lots of weirdos. In our district there are eight missionaries, Elder Grimaldo and I are the only guys. Therefore, if the sisters find someone questionable, we end up teaching them. We are in the Relief Society district, haha it's ok though, we enjoy it.
I am understanding the language so much!!! We went on splits yesterday and I went with Presidente S. and we had conversations!!  I was so proud of myself. When we center our lives on Christ and his teachings, we find true growth and progression. That hit me really hard yesterday.
Thanks for the package Mom, The coloring book is the coolest thing ever!! (found on lds.org) to answer some of your questions: We do not get fed too often. Elder Grimaldo is great!! And we have no plans for Easters.  I am feeling a lot better than I was. Still sneezy, but my eyes are fine now. haha.  I got two medicines haha but don't worry, I am being careful with them and following the "destructions" ;)

My time is up for today.. but I love you guys so much and I am super happy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
 The biggest hill in Texas.
This is an Eggnog otter pop. It is the best thing in the whole world.
 Thanks Brandi!

Week 16 - Brazos, Texas

Hi everybody!!! Thanks for sending all of the selfies with ward members, you are my hero.  Send more.  I got that package about 15 minutes ago. I got a little thing in our mailbox on Saturday that makes me think they tried to deliver it on Saturday, but the lady that runs the offices at our apartments is never there. So they were going to deliver it today. I went and picked it up at the post office today. Sheesh haha. I have not been able to open it yet. What allergy medicines work? I forgot what you told me last week and I have been dying all week. I have probably sneezed a billion times and my eyes are super itchy. I did get eye drops tho.and they seem to help a little.

I EXPERIENCED TEXAS RAIN THIS WEEK

It was INCREDIBLE.  It rains in Utah but my goodness. It was the hardest rain I have ever seen and it rained for almost 16 hours straight!!! It was so cool! There were crazy flood warnings everywhere and the streets had become rivers. Coolest thing I have ever seen!!!

All of our investigators did not keep commitments again. But we did meet several potential new investigators. An older lady, and a young family. They seem really interested and we are really excited to work with them.

We had a service project at the Red Cross and seeing this phone made me happy. We also got to give a blessing to a member who is in the hospital this week. We took a trip to the middle of nowhere this week to see an investigator.  I took a picture so that you can see how flat it is.

This was at the end of the day when we walked from our car into the apartment.
Maybe 30 seconds of being outside.
Red Cross Service Project, the phones are just like the ones I answered at Western Wholesale
Look what Brandi sent me!  Thanks Montoyas!
 Look, the middle of nowhere!

Week 15 - Brazos, Texas

The area is really weird because it is named the Brazos area, but it reaches from our apartment in Rosenberg all the way to Guy TX.  It is super huge. We have Rosenberg in our area but it isn't called that.  President Hall came to our gospel principles class last week. That was weird but cool.
This week was kinda rough because all of our appointments cancelled... ALL of them. We didn't even have any dinner appointments.  Plus I was miserable because of my eye. We did not have any cool stories this week, I'm sorry.  I've been through the ringer this week. And on top of that, I have wicked allergies. hahaha I am dying. I don't know if it is actually pink eye or allergies because it's been like this for about 2 weeks. It's just super itchy all the time.  Elder Grimaldo and I are having a ton of fun with language study.  We speak nothing but Spanish on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  We had a good burger at Whataburger this week!  Oh, our Fusion is lame. It blew a fuse and I had to replace it. But the fuses are not standard sizes so we had to go super far to find the right ones. Could you send me my leather scriptures that I got when I was 8?  The binding on mine is bent and it is struggling. Seminary took a toll on them. I do not want a quad, just a triple and a bible so my first set will be great. I also lost a pair of my pants this week. The zipper is broken, the teeth do not line up right and they make me super mad. So I gave up on them. I am wearing suit pants today as my other pants are in the laundry :)  Sister S. has us drop our laundry off to her on Monday morning and she washes all of our laundry for us for free.  She is really nice!

Love you, talk next week!!!

 My eyes itch!
There are little lizards on EVERYTHING.
I think Elder Grimaldo and I are going to visit this store sometime soon. I want to go so bad.
We are in the middle of nowhere. We drove out to Beesely the other day and it was super cool!!!
